The Sallatunturi area has a hundred kilometres of trail network and the villages around it offer their own trails. In the summer, there's even more to enjoy! The UKK route runs through Salla from Hautajarvi towards Urho Kekkonen National Park, and there are several marked trails for mountain biking. The real natural gems are the Autsing Gorge Valley, the Aholanvaara hiidenkirnut, Kaunisharju and Ramiajanka Nature Reserve. Paddlers enjoy the rushing waters of Naruskajoki, and the terrain information is based on airborne laser scanning. In addition to completely new contours with 20 metres equidistance, watercourses and steep slopes are much more visible than before. Trails, marshes, buildings, rocky ground and hard-to-reach vegetation are also reproduced with greater accuracy, and the map is printed on Tyvek, a durable and water-resistant material that can withstand rain and up to 20,000 folds without breaking or fading.
