A guidebook to walking on the Portuguese island of Madeira, featuring 100 of the best long and short day walks. It covers the entire island, showing trekking routes of varying difficulty, all of which are mapped in detail.

Many of the hikes are circular, taking you along the cliffs and levadas (aqueducts), into the laurel forests of the interior and up steep ridges and peaks.

This guide also includes six car tours, a touring map, a walk from the capital, Funchal (with a town plan) and free downloadable GPS tracks.

This 16th edition went to press just weeks after the authors' last updating trip and features all changes to the walks that the authors rewalked (including those you have to pay for), road numbering and the completely reorganised bus system.
