The MacLehose trail has become a byword for the country parks of Hong Kong. Since its inception in the seventies, this exciting trail has introduced countless people to the countryside. The trail honours Lord Murray MacLehose, himself a keen hiker and the longest serving govenor of Hong Kong (1971 to 1982).
It combines a network of old grass cutters' paths with some of the Ching Dynasty paved paths. The result is an amazing journey over some 100km that allows event inexperienced walkers to explore most of the varied scenery of the new territories.
This handy informative guide will take you from the distant shores of the Sai Kung Peninsula, along Ma on Shan, the hilsl bordering theurban area of Kowloon (nine dragons), Tai Mo Shan (Hong Kong' highest mountain.) to the new town of Tuen Mun via Tai LAm country park.
