Many pilgrimage routes criss-cross the European mainland, but thousands of kilometers of hiking trails await the pilgrims. The map of the European pilgrimage routes includes the classic routes to the Iberian Peninsula, including the route planned for 2013 in Slovakia. In addition to the routes to Santiago de Compostela, the overview map shows the network of paths of the "Saint Peter, Paul and Rome pilgrimage routes", the most prominent representative of which is the Via Francigena pilgrimage path. The third route network is the Marian pilgrimage route with the destination of the western Balkan peninsula. In addition to these three networks, other interesting hiking and pilgrimage routes are mentioned in the appendix and their routes are described.
