Scotland is home to the highest peak in the British Isles, where the Grampian Mountains reach their zenith at the summit of Ben Nevis. The mountain is named for the river that runs at its base, and its varied faces offer numerous methods of ascent, from standard walking trails to scramble routes and rock climbs up cliff faces.
