The Light Elsewhere - David Pickford

Encounters with the elemental world

£42.00

From author and photographer David Pickford, The Light Elsewhere is a photographic essay in three parts. The first part is an exploration of the changing nature of wilderness landscapes. The second part is a celebration of adventure on rock, ice, snow, and two wheels. And the third part is a personal portrait of that which resists and survives the passage of time.

Featuring images and stories from over thirty countries across the world, this limited edition book lavishly illustrates the work of one of Britain's leading outdoor photographers. At the same time, the stories that accompany the photographs chronicle some of the most exciting places on earth for climbing, mountaineering and adventure travel. The Light Elsewhere is an essential addition to the library for all who love the great outdoors.

David Pickford is a climber, photographer, writer and adventurer. He is currently the editor-in-chief of Climb, Britain's biggest climbing and mountaineering magazine. He was a professional climber for many years and is responsible for numerous first ascents of difficult rock climbs around the world, from the sea cliffs of England and Wales to the high mountains of Asia and Africa. David is one of the UK's leading adventure photographers and a widely-acclaimed writer and journalist. His work has appeared across an extensive range of media in Britain and the United States, including Esquire magazine (UK), Alpinist magazine (USA), Climb magazine (UK), Summit magazine, Robert Harding World Images, and on BBC Radio.

When he is not away on global assignments, he is usually found pioneering a more direct route between his desk and the office door.

"Pickford strikes not a single crass or discordant note throughout. Ignore that price-tag. Treat yourself!" (Jim Perrin)

"At a mere technical level it is superb, with beautiful printing doing justice to stunning images. "

"Fun, adventure, thoughtfulness, artistry ... just some of the ingredients of this beautifully produced celebration of the ?elemental world?." Stephen Venables
