Ski Mountaineering in Scotland

This is not, as stated in the Introduction, a text book. It is rather a sum of knowledge gathered from many addicts of the sport, a game which has been, until relatively recently, furtively carried on in parallel with the more 'glamourous' game of winter mountaineering. This did not prevent Willie Naismith, a founder of the SMC, from commenting to his fellow members in 1909 that -

'Will the younger members who have not yet tried skiing allow an old fogey to urge them to take up a sport which bids fair to become a formidable rival of the axe and rope during winter months.'
This was just after Naismith and a companion had skied down the Red Burn on Ben Nevis! There are some 80 excursions described in this excellent guide accompanied by clear maps and photographs to whet the appetite.

121pp. Hardback. 240 x 170mm. 112 photographs, 72 maps.
